HHS Program of Studies

The Hamden Board of Education reserves the right to suspend the offering of a course in which enrollment is insufficient. If a course is oversubscribed, high school seniority will determine the students' enrollment in the course. Every attempt will be made to schedule a student for all of the courses he/she requests. Reference will be made to alternate course choices submitted at the time of course selection.

If no alternative choices are submitted, students will be assigned to classes on a space-available basis.

Students is grades nine through eleven must schedule a minimum of 6 credits each year. Seniors have the option of scheduling 5 credits during their final year of high school. In selecting courses, students should use Hamden High School's graduation requirements as a guide. After selecting courses necessary for high school graduation, students may complete their schedules by choosing courses to meet their individual career and academic plans. It is important that students enroll in courses according to teacher recommendations, graduation requirements, and their own interests.

Teachers make professional judgments regarding course level recommendations. If a student desires to change a level recommendation as presented by the teacher, the student is encouraged to talk with their teacher and/or make an appointment with their school counselor.
